Hey everyone, I am in a whole new world when it comes to fishing. I am a bass fishermen from Texas and on my college break I am here in Florida for the summer working in the Bradenton area. I would really like to get into some reds or something similar since i have all of my bass fishing gear with me from fishing the collegiate bass fishing national championship in alabama last week. Any help or anyone want to take me fishing?

How long are you there? If you are going to be there a while, you may be able to find some part time weekend work with a charter.

If you don't have access to a boat, try kayaking. You are right in the middle of some awesome fishing areas. If you can't find a kayak to use, hit it from the bank. If you have some Zara Spooks with you, give those a try, or go pick up something more suited to saltwater like a topwater from MirrOlure. Soft plastics will also produce from your bass tackle, but they will get torn up pretty quick. You might pick up some saltwater soft plastics and jigheads. Spinnerbaits and buzzbaits are also fun to catch salty fish on.

The original plan was to be here the entire summer break. I am here doing wind mitigation inspections for citezens insurance. I have been to several areas and fished the bank throwing a chrome colored spook. I dont realy know how to determine a good spot from a bad spot or the right time to fish the spots in accordance to the tides. I have found some bay areas with some good grass that with my bass fishing experience i would think it would hold fish, but at the same time i really dont know what to look for or what time to fish. All help is appreciated.

I've only fished that area once. Best thing to do is find a few locals and visit with them. If you want a sure bet, pick up some live shrimp and fish them under a float.
