We've been getting the bites we are looking for, the hook up ratio isn't good at all though...maybe one out of ten fish we actually hook up with. Could the leader be the cause?

Try Brad, much better than mono on hook sets

Whatever we are getting to bite cuts the braid almost immediately. We just want to be able to put our hands on something

steel leader can solve your problem... but may give you a few less bites.

What are you fishing for first? That will make the biggest difference. If you are getting cut off, try using single-strand wire leaders. Haywire twist one or multiple hooks in a stinger rig about 18-24 inches long and either attach them to a snap-swivel. Alternatively you can either haywire the leader to barrel swivel or use a all-bright knot to connect the leader to the main line.
