The past week provided great weather and plenty of rod bending action. The warmer weather raised water temperatures and the fish reacted with a feeding frenzy. Hopefully April brings warm weather and plenty of bait our way.

The snook bite really turned on as water temperatures were ion the rise, live mullet free lined got the linesiders attention. The snook have been schooling up the past week and many of the snook ranging from 6 to 20 pounds. Docks, seawalls and flats are the best areas to locate the snook, DOA C.A.L. Jerk bait in Arkansas glow and glow holographic jigs on a 1/8 ounce jig head will get the rod bent. Top water Fanatics a heddon super spook in foxy shad or mullet pattern great baits for working the flats and along the sea walls. Walk the dog action slowly triggers the snook and causes some extreme strikes on the surface. Night time snook fishing great way to get the drag screaming, live shrimp, pinfish or a DOA C.A.L. 3 inch shad in glow or pearl with chartreuse great baits to entice snook.

Tarpon action along channel edges and in canals great during low light hours. Live baits like a mullet sand perch or thread fin have been the best choice to get hooked up with the silver king. DOA C.A.L. 3 inch shad in ale wife and Arkansas glow on a ¼ ounce jig head entices strikes. Sunrise and sunset hours offer shots at tarpon with top water baits like the Bomber bodonka donk in red head white body. The tarpon have been averaging 5 to 25 pounds.

Jack crevalles are roaming the sea walls and channels these fish are ferocious, taking live baits and Heddon spook top water plugs. The jacks hang in schools and range in size from 5 to 30 pounds. DOA C.A.L. 5.5 jerk baits in pearl worked fast on the surface entice fish to strike with a vengeance, light tackle is a blast with these fish, hold on tight.

Freshwater peacock bass action is great along the seawalls and along bridges pilings. The peacocks are striking popper flies and heddon spook jr ,best presentation is twitch twitch pause for a second and bang. Sight fishing for the peacocks can be done along shorelines and along docks, DOA shrimp in fire tiger or DOA C.A.L. 3 inch shad in candy corn on a 1/8 ounce jig head gets the job done. Be sure to always release the peacock back there bed.

Well that is the fishing report for the past week hope you all enjoyed. Remember you can’t catch them from the couch, so get out there and get hooked up. Tight Lines! Capt. Craig Korczynski, PhlatsInshoreFishing.com, 561-644-4371
