I have noticed very few people fish off of their docks in Fort Lauderdale. In fact, I have never seen anyone fish off of their docks. Is there a reason people do not like to fish in their backyards? I know boat fishing is superior, but if you live directly on the water, why not use it?
This week, I placed an offer on a home, which was accepted, in Las Olas Isles section of Fort Lauderdale. My place is on a nice wide canal that has two contributaries to the intracostal waterway. I am a couple of blocks in from the ICW and 2 miles from the Port Everglades and the outlet to the ocean. What type of fishing, if any, could I expect if I want to be lazy and fish from my backyard. If there is good fishing(decent) fishing in those canals? What type of rigging should I use? I do not have any fishing gear at the moment and need to recalibrate how I fish since most of my life; I have been a freshwater fisherman.
Thanks for reading my post.
