    hey all!

I just moved to quincy florida from ohio seeking better fishing. i bought an older 17ft bass tracker and began work on it. i now have it ironed out enough to use it.
so far down here i have caught one 4lb lmb, one 1lb lmb and a 30lb gator when throwing at a splash. caught the gator on a MT karl special green and blue craw
on a 4/0 ewg hook lol....and i have been fishing at least 15 times in the last month. im am not used to getting skunked each trip. im fishing talquin mainly but soon
i will start fishing Jackson and Seminole.

my usual lures/baits are senkos mainly (tex/wacky unweighted), jigs of all types and sp worms in colors ranging from watermelon red flake to black and blue.
these are indeed getting bites but i suspect its not LMB biting them cause i can never set the hook. i have noticed alot of gar swirling around the lures and
swimming about. betting that why im not able to set the hook on these bites....but im not targeting gar....yet.

i have several boxes and backpacks stuffed with mystery tacklebox lures and none seem to be producing either.

i have been targeting pads and grass as well as shoreline from about 3pm till just after dark.

is there any way i can get some advise on lures/technique/color/area? im not asking you to give up your secrets just help me get started in landed lmb consistently
in an area im unfamiliar fishing. i moved here for giants and so far im not even catching dinks..... very frustrating. i posted pretty much this same post on another
forum but didnt get any real advise on lures or colors or anything like that.

    thanks a ton!
