After many years of staying in the Keys and kayak fishing various areas, we will be staying in South Sarasota/Siesta Key area for the month of March before heading back to Key West for April. I have zero knowledge of the fishing opportunities in the Siesta Key area and to the south. Would love some intel on good areas to try both via my kayak and wade fishing. I am not a "trophy hunter" just like some decent action. Any advice is sincerely appreciated! thanks

If you like getting away from people fast... make the one hour drive from Sarasota to Everglades City/Chokoloskee. Its one of only three places you can enter into Everglades National Park. Great fishing for snook, trout, redfish, and tarpon. One of the best places to kayak fish in all of Florida. On your way back to Key West, fish Flamingo, near Homestead. This is the southernmost entrance into the Everglades, and the most incredible place I've ever fished. For kayakers, it doesn't get any better.
