Lots of good memories from the summer of ‘85. One of my favorites is canoeing over to Egmont Key for snorkeling and beach combing. Beautiful place and was not crowded.

There were tortoises on the Key. I wonder if they are still there? Or their descendants?

Ok, so tortoises can live from 50 to 100 years. So it is conceivable that the tortoises I saw on Egmont Key in 1985 are still alive. That’s cool if true.

That’s amazing really. I hope they are still around.

I would hope their offspring are doing well on the Key. Surely someone takes care of them and their needs.

I’m going to add another trip to Egmont Key on my To Do list. I would like to see them again and learn how they are cared for and by whom.
