Hello everyone,
I typically use the double uni’s but as mentioned does take a little longer to tie than the triple surgeon. I am using braid to fluorocarbon. However as of late I have been tying a Slim beauty (I think it originated with fly fisherman). I find it takes just as long to tie, just as strong, and is smaller in profile for traveling trough the guides.
A little tip that works for me is that I will tie on a long leader initially and as I need to I just snip some off and re-tie lures and hooks without having to change the whole leader every time.
I do occasionally retie the whole leader if I feel it has been weaken in any fashion or is too short for my liking.
This way I am not tying all day, I rather fish.
