Thanks, it might have been Big Blue. I don't remember anyone mentioning that name but if it is within a 20 to 30 minute drive it might be it.
We did not have a boat but fished the shoreline and I caught several bass in the 5 and 6 pound class. Sgt. Obrien caught a huge bass that must have been 10 or 12 pounds. He said he had caught bigger bass out of the lake.
The bait of choice was black jigs with Uncle Josh black frog trailer. I did not have one so was using Mepps spinners as that was all I had.
Anyway, I will never forget that Saturday morning at that particular lake. We never went there again, at least I never did. Duty, work orders, detail assignments took up most of my time while I was stationed there.
I do remember the white sand at Panama City Beach as being so white as to make it painful to see without dark sunglasses. Anyone that has been there will attest to the validity of this!
My first trip to the beach was without sunglasses and I was "blind" afterwards for several hours from the glare.
