Hi folks,
Here are some reports i received from pier anglers this week from the skyway bite.
Mackerel
Are chewing on live greenbacks under a popping cork on both the incoming and outgoing tides. Spoons and gotcha lures will also work well when they are schooled up around the piers.
Silver trout
Are chewing on shrimp or any cut bait fished on the bottom with some big grunts also starting to show around the piers.
Flounder
Some nice size flounder have been reported from both fishing piers and on the nsp flats. Live greenbacks small pinfish and white bucktails bounced along the bottom seem to be the ticket for landing a few nice fish.
Sheephead
They are starting to show in pretty good numbers down shallow around the rocky edges and pylons. Sand fleas and crabs working best.
Grouper
The grouper bite has been good from both piers this fall with some gags up to 34" reported and i have seen many between 24" and 31" come over the rail in the past several weeks. Live pin fish or grunts working well and try mullet chunks if you cant get any live baits.
Catch-em up folks
