The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has scheduled a public workshop in Dania Beach on the management of Florida's spiny lobster fishery. This workshop is in addition to a series of lobster workshops previously announced.
The FWC wants feedback from the public on recommendations made by its ad hoc Spiny Lobster Advisory Board. This group has worked with the FWC on a comprehensive evaluation of its spiny lobster management strategy.
All aspects of commercial and recreational lobster management will be discussed, including allocation of landings between fishing sectors, season length, license fees, the Special Two-day Sport Season and other related issues.
The workshop will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 6 from 6-8 p.m., at the International Game Fish Association Fishing Hall of Fame and Museum, 300 Gulf Stream Way, Dania Beach. Contact Lee Schlesinger at 850-487-0554 for more information about the workshop.
Anyone requiring special accommodations to participate in the workshop should advise the FWC at least five calendar days before the workshop by contacting Cindy Hoffman at 850-488-6411. If you are hearing- or speech-impaired, contact the FWC using the Florida Relay Service at 800-955-8771 (TTY) or 800-955-8770 (voice).
