I am heading down to Orlando the week if 12/16-12/22. Where should I go to do some fishing? Should I hire a guide or take my own gear and head to the inlets and State Parks? I would love to catch some Reds and Trout, but I don't even know if they will be in the area that time of year. What is around and should I be looking for? This is my first time in the area.

I grew up in the Keys and miss the fishing more than anything else down there. I have been spoiled and fishing in NC just hasn't been the same.

Any info would be appreciated.

I would head over to the Mosquito Lagoon area and wade the flats or fish the bottom in the Haulover Canal. Any of the tackle shops in Titusville will get you headed in the right direction.

There are plenty of redfish and trout in the Mosquito Lagoon and north Indian River Lagoon. Small soft plastic jerk baits will catch both species. Here is a map of the wildlife refuge
